500 Receives Medical Care, Medication as Rep Member, Halims Organizes Free Outreach

Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims has provided free medical outreach to no fewer than five hundred people across Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency of the state.

Declaring the exercise open at Ankpa, Rep. Halims, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Okeme Emmanuel, said the outreach was part of his efforts to improve the health and living condition of his constituents.

“This event is borne out of our commitment to the health and wellbeing of the electorates. This is the first phase and it is particularly targeted at the vulnerable ones amongst us. The hardship faced by individuals and families at this point in time calls for interventions and the program shall continue in phases,” he said.

In his address, the guest speaker, Mr. Osifoh Ozoya Austine commended the lawmaker, Rt. Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims for the outreach which included counseling, screening for diabetes, hypertension, malaria, ulcer amongst others.

He explained that the aforementioned ailments were the focus of the outreach because they were the most predominantly ignored health issues adding that timely treatment of diseases are the fastest way to have a healthy life as those who were found to have any of the ailments received treatment and medications.

In his remark, Hon Aminu Jibrin, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, lauded Rep. Halims for the initiative, which he described as timely. Aminu enjoined the people to go for regular medical check up to avoid unforeseen circumstances that might lead to untimely death due to negligence.

Reacting on behalf of beneficiaries, Mrs Janet Opaluwa and Hajiya Iye Idrisu thanked the lawmaker for placing premium on the health and wellbeing of his constituents.

The free medical outreach which was themed “Health and Wellness: Building a Healthy Society” according to the Lead Doctor, Dr. Samson Momoh is a collaborative effort of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) with Rt. Hon. Halims and runs through Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th October, 2024.
