A driver and three other persons traveling from Lokoja to Idah, headquarters of Idah local government were at the weekend crushed to death by a truck in an attempt to escape a robbery gang.
Witnesses who spoke with newsmen in Lokoja yesterday blamed the accident on the presence of robbers on the road, lamenting that the robbers had turned the Idah highway to their haven.
One of the witnesses who gave his name as Usman said the robbers numbering 15, who were armed with weapons including guns, machetes, bows and arrows, came out of the bush and blocked the road and it was while trying to turn away from the robbers that the accident occurred.
