The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has carpeted the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state for deception, saying the administration should have told the people the truth that it has no project to showcase in the last two years rather than pretend to be celebrating a low-keyed two year anniversary.
In a statement signed by the Director Research and Documentation, Achadu Dickson, the party said “it is highly unfortunate, mischievous, criminal and a deceit of the highest order that the administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello, would want to recommission projects already completed and inaugurated by the PDP-led administration under Capt Idris Wada in 2015.
“It is shameful and sinful for the Bello-led administration to want to particularly recommission the multi-million Naira Mega Park at Felele and the Kogi State Diagnostic Hospital, in Lokoja, as part of projects to be inaugurated to mark its two year anniversary celebration.
“Efforts to commission the special school for the physically challenged persons located in Zango Daji area of Lokoja as another act of fraud. The project had long been completed by the previous PDP administration.
“The general public in the state is fully aware that these projects have been commissioned already by the past PDP administration in Kogi State. They are also aware of Gov. Bello’s plan to recommission these projects. One cannot but wonder at the deceptive tendencies been exhibited by the Gov. Bello led administration in the state.
“It is unfortunate that despite the several Billions of Naira the present administration in the state has accessed through the monthly allocations, Paris Club refunds, bail-out and others, there is nothing tangible to showcase other than to commission projects inaugurated by past administration and huge indebtedness of about N45billion owed commercial banks.
“It will amount to mockery of governance, playing on the psyche and intelligence of Kogi people if Governor Bello goes ahead to commission the Mega Park, Diagnostic Centre and School for the Special Persons, all in an effort to justify a wasted two years of misrule that has led to the sack and death of several Kogi workers.
“The deception that his two year anniversary celebration would be low keyed is an after thought. He knows that there is nothing on the ground as projects executed to showcase, despite the resources that has accrued to the administration since coming on board, two years ago,” he said.
Achadu, in the statement, asked Governor Bello to bury his head in shame and for running away from the truth.
The PDP says it sympathizes with Kogi People for the hardship that they have been made to go through in the last two years, prayed God to console families of workers who lost their lives, jobs and several others who are still being owed twenty two months salary arrears.
