Kogi state project office of Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project has emerged overall best among the 2nd tier NEWMAP states.
This was disclosed during the closing and valedictory ceremony of NEWMAP, organized by the World Bank and Federal Ministry of Environment, in Abuja on Saturday.
The 2nd tier NEWMAP states includes Kano, Gombe, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Sokoto, Oyo and Plateau.
Also, Kogi NEWMAP office came first among 23 states on the implementation of environmental and safeguard instruments.
Kogi was also first runners up in ‘implementation of grievance redress mechanism’ and the ‘implementation of catchment management plan’.
The highly elated Project Coordinator of Kogi NEWMAP, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto, appreciated the Almighty God for the divine support.
She also specially recognized and appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for his unrelenting support to Kogi NEWMAP, dedicating the awards to the Governor.
