Recent whispers of a rumored plot to orchestrate a vote of no confidence against Senator Sunday Karimi, the distinguished representative of Kogi West Senatorial District, are not just misguided, they are a direct assault on the very principles of party loyalty and democratic representation.
The motive ? His steadfast support for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his unwavering alignment with the people who elected him, the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.

In any democracy, loyalty should be a virtue, not a vice. Loyalty to one’s constituents, to the party platform, and to a president elected under that same banner is the bedrock of political stability and principled governance. To battle with such commitment is both reckless and self defeating.
Senator Karimi’s stance is neither controversial nor unusual. As a dedicated member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his support for President Tinubu’s administration and his advocacy for the aspirations of Kogi West reflect the duty of a leader who values continuity, equity, and the success of his party in governance.
What is more concerning, however, is the apparent discomfort of certain elements within Kogi West regarding Senator Karimi’s principled advocacy that the district deserves to produce the next governor of Kogi State. This is not mere speculation, it is a legitimate democratic demand, grounded in fairness, justice, and decades of loyal contribution to the state’s political development.
For too long, Kogi West has been a loyal stakeholder in Kogi’s political evolution. Its call for the governorship is a reasonable and necessary appeal for balance, a system functions best when every region feels truly represented and valued.
Attempting to undermine Senator Karimi for championing party unity and regional fairness reveals a disturbing pattern in our politics: the disguising of personal ambition as party discipline. The APC was founded on inclusion and progress, not vendetta or intimidation.
Across Kogi State, support for President Tinubu’s reelection remains strong. In Kogi West, the people stand firmly behind Senator Karimi—not as passive spectators, but as politically conscious citizens who recognize his record of service. From empowerment programs and educational support to community development projects, his impact on youths, women, and vulnerable groups is evident and enduring.
True leadership is measured by service, not by backroom dealings or orchestrated political theatrics. The people of Kogi West understand that democracy is exercised through the ballot box and open debate, not through coercion or scripted endorsements.
Senator Karimi has consistently upheld the mandate of the APC and the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu. Supporting the President strengthens Kogi state’s connection to the federal government, while advocating for fair rotation of the governorship strengthens unity within the state.
Those fanning the flames of division should take heed. Fragmenting the party ahead of crucial elections benefits no one, least of all the people whom leaders are sworn to serve. A politics of vengeance builds nothing. A politics of principle builds legacies.
Senator Sunday Karimi must remain focused on serving the people who elected him. Political storms will pass, but the voices of justice, equity, and dedicated service will always endure.
And on the question of fairness in Kogi state, the aspiration of Kogi West to produce the next governor will not be silenced.
