Hon. Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi, the senatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Kogi West in 2019, and current Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Energy says no group can claim to speak for the collective interest of Okun people from undefined or inaccessible position.
Reacting to recent reports credited to Okun Leaders League (OLL), Omoluabi urged the group to engage under verifiable identity and leadership, as matters concerning the political direction of the Okun people require responsibility, legitimacy, and accountability.
“Leadership is not exercised from anonymity. Any organisation or individual intending to influence political direction must be known, must be seen, and must stand to be held accountable by the people they claim to represent,” he said.
Hon. Omoluabi further emphasised that strategy must guide political aspiration, noting that Okun comprises 5 Local Government Areas. He stated that political advancement hinges on a coordinated alliance with Lokoja/Koto and Kogi Central to build the electoral and negotiation strength required for meaningful outcomes.
“Politics is not driven by sentiments or slogans. It is driven by structure, alignment, and coalition. Okun cannot isolate itself in a political environment where numbers matter. We must act with calculation, not emotion.”
He cautioned against voices, especially those outside the state, who issue directives without bearing the weight of local political realities.
“Commentary from a distance does not equate to leadership. Those who are abroad or detached from on-the-ground responsibility must be mindful not to escalate division under the guise of advocacy.”
Hon. Omoluabi reaffirmed that Hon. James Abiodun Faleke’s continued partnership with Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo represents a responsible and strategic alignment focused on stability, good governance, and long-term gains for Okun and the entire Kogi State.
“Progress is achieved through constructive engagement, not disruption. Hon. Faleke’s approach reflects maturity, consistency, and focus. That is the level of political discipline required at this moment.”
The Special Adviser said he has been a part of struggle for Okun to produce Governor for almost twenty years and asserted that experience has shown that only strong alliance with either of Kogi East or Kogi Central can make Okun to produce a Governor and concluded that it is the reason the people are uniting behind Governor Ododo to do a second term and support Okun (Kogi West) ticket.
Omoluabi said the person who must sit as a Governor must have simply majority votes and have twenty five percent in seventy five percent Local Government areas which means such a person must have twenty five percent in fourteen LGAs which is the reason why Okun people must sustain the ongoing strategic alliance between Kogi West and Kogi Central senatorial districts.
He argued that an incumbent Governor who is performing deserves to do another term, while insisting that Governor Ododo has promoted unity, development and hope for the governorship seat to go round every senatorial district.
He said the current agenda by some faceless people to plunge Okun people into the 2027 Governorship race is a wicked agenda to deprive Okun/Kogi west the opportunity to produce a Governor. He said the West has seven LGAs, requiring seven more LGAs to be able to produce a Governor, an indication that only well agreed, well thought out and deliberate alliances with Kogi Central will guarantee Okun the opportunity to clinch the seat in 2031.
He challenged the “faceless OLL” to operate with identity, he also cautioned the group and others in such despicable character of intimidating and blackmailing our revered royal father who represents the culture, tradition and identity of our communities.
He urged them to stop seeing traditional rulers as nonentities who they feel don’t know what is good for their people.
Omoluabi said as it stands today, Governor Ododo and Kogi Central has the most formidable political platform requiring the alliance of our people. He urged the people to disregard the unpatriotic vituperations of faceless people who sits in their comfort zones to escalate political situations to the disadvantage of our people.
He concluded by stating that the Okun agenda will be championed through unity, strategic dialogue, and leadership that is open, present, and accountable, not through faceless agitation.
