A group, Mopamuro Likeminds Initiative, has called on the people of Yagba Federal Constituency to prioritize progress over political distractions.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the group said the people of Mopa are not against member representing Yagba federal constituency, Elder Leke Abejide.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Emmanuel Ayo, said it had become imperative to put the record in proper perspective in the ongoing misconstrued beliefs that the people of Mopa community are resolute to be against Elder Leke Abejide.

“This belief had/is affecting the entire community on the scale of priority, unlike the gains accessed by some neighbouring communities.

“We, as people of likeminds in the community, wish to state categorically that we are unequivocally in support of Elder Leke Abejide’s programmes and projects tailored towards the advancement of our community and Yagba Federal Constituency in general.

“The subsisting mandate given to Elder Leke Abejide by the entire people is a confirmation of his acceptability, and the Mopa likeminds join other well-meaning Yagba people in accessing the gains of same.

“Our message is further predicated on the need for Elder Leke Abejide to see and give consideration to the need for more dividend of democracy largely to the benefit of our people, especially in the areas of employment opportunities, social amenities, roads infrastructure and support for the enhancement of Mopa security.

“There are other sectors cum; request but these takes the front seat,” the group said.

Mopa Likeminds Initiative also noted that the group was not unaware of the agitation of some people within their local government clamouring to stop the third term bid of Elder Leke Abejide.

“This is to clearly state that those agitating has the right to agitate same way the constitution allows Elder Leke Abejide to contest for additional term in office. This is not supposed to be a matter of/for debate because the people will eventually decide through their votes, and Mopa likeminds are part of the people!

“To whom much is given much is expected. 2027 is largely in the hands of God, and to him, we give our submission to his supremacy.”

The group enjoined all well-meaning Mopa people to continue to support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and his government.
