  • Urges supporters in Kogi East and other senatorial districts to be patient as eleventh hour party realignment approaches.

The Deputy Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi state in the 2023 election, Dr. Omede Idris has called on the people of Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopa Amuro local government areas to re-elect Hon Leke Abejide in 2027.

Speaking with newsmen on Saturday, Dr Omede Idris, a former Commissioner of Health in Kogi state, described Hon Leke Abejide as a performer, an achiever, a capable and fit politician whose service to humanity is massive and appreciated, not only within his Constituency, but far beyond.

“Hon Abejide has created paths for expansive and inclusive development and engagement. He is a typical example of a round peg in a round hole, touching lives, community and electorate needs through his benevolence and philanthropy,” he said.

The 2023 ADC Deputy Governorship candidate and former National President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) said in a productive legislative parlance, a performing, tested and altruistic legislator should be allowed to return to the chambers as obtainable in many constituencies or given right of first refusal.

He explained that the yardsticks or benchmark for such consideration being service to: the constituent, the individual, the people groups and constituency demonstrating objectivity and rational considerations of principle and expectations of leadership.

“Definitely, Hon Abejide scorecard in such consideration would be excellent. Many constituencies in the state and other states including FCT yearn for quality and quantity representation, the type Hon Leke Abejide offers and wish he could be a lawmaker representing them with such dividend of representation to the community and constituency. Unfortunately, by the law of the nation, he cannot rightly change his Constituency without implications.

“Hon Leke Abejide has done creditably well in many areas, notably though not exhaustive: human engagement, security through the police, civil defence, army and vigilante and the LGA authority and solar community lighting, agricultural seed and tool support, education support for students and undergraduate, health infrastructure including the ongoing custom hospital construction within the Constituency, construction of durable and lasting road, provision of water through borehole construction, amongst others.

“Hon Abejide’s welfare attention addresses most classes of people, children, adolescent, the young and elderly, orphans and widows, traditional rulers, the clergy and the Alfa and imam.

“Hon Abejide indeed knows where it pinches, and he is up and out there proactively, actively and reactively to address people concerns, directly or through his dedicated, committed and hardworking team members. He is a strong force, to the ADC faction that has adopted H.E, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR for a second term and also to the ruling party APC. Whichever way Hon Leke Abejide goes, there is no alternative to his winning an election, Inshallah. Those of us, in his team from Kogi East, made up of the 9 LGAs and a good number of the supporters of Leke/Omede team are putting finishing touches to our eventual destination along with Hon Leke Abejide,” he said.

Dr. Omede, a former National President, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), appealed to their supporters to remain patient as consultations continue on possible political realignment ahead of 2027 general elections.

He urged supporters in Kogi East and other senatorial districts to be patient as the eleventh hour Party realignment approaches.

“The dice is almost cast. Hon Leke Abejide is marketable brand and a good product that understand and knows the tenets of responsibilities bestowed on an elected person. We are set and ready to move together.”
