The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kogi state, has held a convergence summit with coalition partners with the view to strengthening Alliance for the party to emerge victorious in the forthcoming Nigeria General election in 2027.
The summit which was held on 10th June, 2025 in Lokoja had in attendance coalition partners, especially the Coalition for the Promotion of Democracy, COPDEM
Addressing party faithful, partners and other coalition members, Kogi ADC Chairman, Mr. John Adaji said the summit is timely, as it’s obvious that the country need rescuing; a task he said requires coalition of efforts and a hand shake across the Niger as typified in the logo of ADC.

Adaji commended the national leadership of ADC for all their resilient efforts at moving the party forward, particularly the new move aimed at strengthening alliance and forging a united front in the quest for a better Nigeria.

“This summit is a testament to our party’s commitment to building a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Nigeria. As we prepare for the 2027 elections, we recognize that we cannot achieve our goals alone. We need the support and collaboration of like minded political parties and stakeholders who share our vision for a better Nigeria.” She stated.
Mr. Adaji who had started grassroots mobilization ahead of the coalition, called for commitment, dedication and passion to achieve the desired objective of the coalition for a better Nigeria
“As we converge today, let us remember that our party, the ADC is build on the principles of justice, equality and fairness. We are a Party that believes in the potential of every Nigerian, regardless of their background, ethnicity, or religion. Hence, our logo which depicts Shaking of Hands.
“As we move forward, let us remember that our strength lies in our diversity, our creativity, and our resilience. Let us draw on the wisdom of our elders, the energy of our youth, and the expertise of our professionals. To our coalition partners, I extend our warmest welcome. We are honoured to have you with us and we look forward to working with you to build a brighter future for Nigeria.
On her part, the Kogi State chairperson of Coalition for the protection of Democracy COPDEM, Mrs. Blessing Martins said the convergence summit was borne out of conviction.
“We are here today because we recognize that Nigeria is in crisis. Over the past decade, we have witnessed an alarming deterioration in nearly every sector. The economy has collapsed under mismanagement, insecurity has become a daily nightmare, and corruption remains deeply entrenched in the very fabrics of our governance. Opportunities have been stolen, hopes dimmed, and voices silenced.
“The Coalition for the Protection of Democracy, COPDEM is a non partisan citizen led movement founded on the ideals of equity, justice and democratic accountability. We are not mere spectators, we are active participants in the shaping of a new Nigeria – one where every citizen matters, every voice count, and every government action is subject to scrutiny.
“In pursuit of this noble cause, we have forged a strategic and purposeful partnership with the African Democratic Congress ADC, a party whose values, vision and grassroots orientation align squarely with ours.” She stated.
Guest Speaker, Dr. Usman Paul, who spoke on Strengthening Alliance for democratic governance, stressed on need for collaborative efforts and importance of shared responsibilities and actions that will create lasting positive democratic change in Nigeria.
The summit had other presentations, goodwill messages and commitment to spread the message of alliance and collaborative efforts to building a better Nigeria through ADC and it’s partners come 2027 General election down to the nooks and crannies of the state.
