The leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), Lokoja local government chapter, has assured Senator Smart Adeyemi of their continued support.
Speaking during Senator Adeyemi’s formal declaration to seek re-election into the red chamber of the National Assembly in 2023 in Lokoja on Saturday, the party chairman, Hon. Miakudi Bature said they are satisfied with the performance of the senator.
Maikudi described Senator Adeyemi as an asset to Kogi West and the entire state.
He said within the period under review, Senator Adeyemi’s impeccable track record of achievements across the senatorial district are glaring and visible for everyone to see.
The woman leader, on behalf of other women in the party, presented the ‘Best Performing Senator’ award to Adeyemi in recognition of his achievements in the senatorial district.
Responding, Senator Adeyemi said he has justified his mandate in spite of the numerous challenges he encountered at the course of representing the people.
“I was also in court for ten months on many litigations against my victory. All these contributed in slowing me down.
“I was elected in November 2019 and spent only three days before the National Assembly went on break. After resuming in January, it took two months before I could get a functional office and there was lock down by April of 2020 in Abuja due to COVID-19 which lasted for several months.
“But in spite of these distractions, I can say I have within my capacity, justified my mandate. I have a fulfilled mission at the Senate, and all the promises I made during the campaign is being carried out,” he said.
Adeyemi, however, said he is seeking re-election to consolidate on his legislative achievements.
“I am seeking your support to go back so that I can use my legislative knowledge and acumen to better the lot of our people through making laws and agitations that will favour their socio-economic wellbeing.
“Senate is a serious place that required people who are vocal, who speaks the truth and ensured that the welfare of his/her people are placed on the front burner.”
Adeyemi said he will continue to compliment the efforts of the state governor in providing succour to his people.
Those in attendance includes the APC wards executives, APC LG executives, women, youths and past executives of the party.
