A youth group, Atiku-Wike Solidarity Movement (AWSOM), has appealed to leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to consider pairing the party’s presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers state.
In a press statement issued by Hon. Onogu Collins Monday, the National President of AWSOM, the group said having identified the strength of the two titans, PDP stand a better chance of winning 2023 presidential election with Wike as Atiku’s running mate.
Onogu Collins urged PDP and Atiku to consider Gov. Wike as the running mate, having proved beyond reasonable doubt that Wike is a strong force in the game, considering his track record and popularity demonstrated during primary election in the just concluded PDP special convection.
“Wike has the political capacity and capability to checkmate whosoever that the ruling party APC may want to feature from the South like Atiku in the north. PDP should jettison sentiment and greed to enable the party win the forthcoming general election.
“The advantages of featuring Wike as Atiku running mate is enormous. All contenders from the opposing camp must have learnt their lessons from the strength of both Atiku and Wike which has made the party to congratulate them as no victor no vanquished,” he said.
Hon. Onogu Collins Monday, who doubles as the National Chairman of PDP Councilors’ Forum, further declared that members of AWSOM in collaboration with serving and former PDP councilors will embark on an aggressive grassroots movement and mobilization for the emergence of Atiku-Wike mandate.
