Market women in Ijumu local government area oof Kogi state have declared their support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Idris Rufus Oluwafemi (Idrufem).

They made this known in Iyara on Wednesday.

The convener, Mrs. Kemi Balogun from Ekirin-Ade, who mobilized the market women in preparation for the 2023 general elections, lamented the level of poverty, underdevelopment and insecurity occasioned by visionless leadership.

Balogun said the current state of despair necessitated the need to give the ADC party total support in the forthcoming election.

She said they cannot continue to do the same thing and expect a different result as it is an open secret that the people of Yagba land have given the ADC party a chance, are currently enjoying the dividends of democracy under the visionary leadership of Hon. Leke Abejide.

She enjoined all the women to commence “house to house campaign to ensure victory for Hon. Idrufem who has been contributing to the growth and development of our women, youths and particularly on the girl child education.”

Mrs. Mathew Rachel from Iyara also corroborated the convener on why they have decided to endorse Hon. Idrufem.

She said with Idrufem, Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency will be in a safe and better hand, owing to his rich credentials, international exposure, humility and charisma.

Similarly, the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Iyara branch, has also considered it imperative to support and endorse the ADC aspirant.

Mr. Emmanuel Ayeoribe (also known as Baba Isale), speaking on behalf of the executives, said Hon. Idris is likeable and approachable, and they have heard about his good work and humanitarian gesture, particularly the recent payment of tuition fees for the eleven students of Kogi State University.

“This is a sign of good things to come and education is key to the growth and development,” he said.

Ayeoribe urged the good people of Ijumu to support Idrufem for the long-awaited dividends of democracy that have long eluded the people of Ijumu.
