Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba, PAAU, which boasts of over 200 professors, has matriculated 6,918 students in the 2023/2024 academic session as the Vice Chancellor; Professor Marietu Tenuche called on the new students to shun acts inimical to bringing the good name of the institution into disrepute.
The Vice Chancellor urged the products of the university to be PAAU ambassadors wherever they go warned students against cyber crimes, cultism, rape, extortion of money from students using class representatives with the deployment of ICT as a medium of communication.
The Vice Chancellor said the University’s administration has zero tolerance for negative anti social vices, pointing out that 60% of crimes committed in the institution in recent times is cyber related, as the university is laden with yahoo boys.
Prof. Tenuche urged all students of the institution students to be vanguards for the elimination of vices on campus by reporting irregular behaviors and serving as whistle blowers to expose ills on campus as well as serving as volunteers in various committees set up to root out all acts inimical to the maintenance of peace and tranquility on campus.
The Vice Chancellor informed the matriculating students that all courses of study in the institution have been fully accredited by the National Universities Commission, NUC, and the professional bodies like the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, NMCN, Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists, COMEG, Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, NIAS, Council of Legal Education, Nigerian Law School.
According to the Vice Chancellor, the university management has deployed infrastructural facilities to propel students to greater heights to be able to compete globally with their peers; including a well-stocked University main library equipped with books and resources that are adequate in titles, volume and currency.
The chairman, governing board of the university, Profession Ibrahim Aguye, who led his board members to the matriculation hall, welcomed the students to the university as he assured them of the university’s capacity to meet their academic desires.
