Osaseyi Foundation has trained over four hundred students who enrolled for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Ijumu local government area of Kogi State.

The Chairman of the Foundation, Mr Richard Osaseyi who spoke through the Supervisor for Education Ijumu Local Government Area, Mr Olorunjuwon Benjamin Fortune, said the intervention was to aid those with poor computer skills gain stability before commencement of the examination.

“It is no longer news that constant failure in UTME yearly is largely attributed to candidate’s lack of basic computer knowledge. Hence the need for candidates to get familiarized with basic know-how and what is required of them before entering into the examination hall.

“The computer-based test (CBT) put together by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is to checkmate the rigorous procedure attached to the analogue paper method employed years ago. But due to Nigeria’s slow pace of being a technology friendly country, candidates have been finding it difficult to adjust to the new norm.

“This is why the intervention of the Osaseyi Foundation to train over three hundred candidates across Ijumu Local Government Area in three major CBT centers in the Local Government Area; Dabats Computer Center Ayetoro Gbede, Civic Center Iyara, and OEPYO ICT CENTER Ogidi, has been able to address the usual failure before exam and computer phobia faced by UTME candidates in Ijumu Local Government Area.

“The foundation has therefore successfully completed the training of not fewer than four hundred candidates in Ijumu Local Government Area on basic computer knowledge to help conquer the CBT phobia,” he said..

Osaseyi commended the efforts the Executive Chairman of Ijumu LGA, Hon. Taofiq Isah for making education a top priority in his administration, nothing that the training facilitated by his foundation was originally a pet project of his good brains.
