Alhaji Yakubu Oseni, Executive Chairman of Kogi State Internal Revenue Service has joined other aspirants jostling for the senate seat of Kogi Central Senatorial district in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
Alhaji Oseni who is contesting for the upper chamber seat of the National Assembly from Kogi Central under the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC made the declaration on Sunday in Lokoja during a media chat.
He said women empowerment through Small and Medium Enterprises, SME, youth and educational development, portable water supply as well as job employments would be his key agenda if elected.
Alhaji Oseni, who was in financial institution for 13 years (First Bank PLC) noted that he would embark on meaningful but feasible constituency projects that will benefits and impact the people of his area just as he’s confident of choosing the right platform of APC to achieve his aim of serving the people of Kogi Central at the senate.
“I’m God sent human being, I’m made for my people and I’ve been serving my people in every capacity I’ve been managing, so I intend to deliver more for my people at the senate, it is not about myself, it’s about my people,” begins the Kogi IRS boss.
“I want to do what’s different from what others have been doing, so I will take the women of my senatorial district very important, they are always at the receiving end after the elections despite being in the forefront during campaigns and elections. I’ve designed programs that will empower them and the youths.

“I will strive to ensure that every child, youth and parent who desires formal education has access to affordable, functional and quality education at all various levels, I will be in the forefront of pushing vigorously for the provision of sustainable skills acquisition centers for those who are without formal education in each of the five local governments in Kogi Central, I will also give a further boost to the completion and operationalization of Ajaokuta Steel Company, if given the mandate to represent the good people of Kogi Central, he said.
Alhaji Yakubu Oseni who is from ‘Popomete Clan’ in the Ebira kingdom debunked the rumors of being endorsed by Governor Yahaya Bello just as he talked down the usual zoning arrangements which has always being a major considerations in the Kogi Central politics.
“If anybody says so that I am anointed by the Governor, that is their opinion and they are entitled to it, I’m the people anointed candidate, it’s not only Governor that anointed, everybody from Kogi Central anointed me, they called me to come and work and salvage them, that’s why I’m going me and that why you see that it is me and others that’s why you see people bringing talking about being anointed but I don’t care my concern is go there and serve.
“Senate has been zoned to Kogi Central already, do you want to re-zone the zoning? Fortunately I’m from Kogi Central and I believe I can do more for my people from there (senate), fortunately enough I don’t stop anybody from contesting, it’s for all of us, that’s why I’m there (in the race), Oseni said.
On the current internal crisis facing the the ruling APC, the tax administrator said it is expected of any growing and ruling party to face such challenges which he believed would soon be a thing of the past just as he commended the party for the newly introduced direct voting process to conduct primary elections which he believed would be in his favor due to his popularity in his district.
