“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen” – Vladimir Ilyich Lenin.
Dear good people of Kabba/Bunu constituency and the great electorates, it is with the above declaration of Lenin in mind that I bring you solidarity greetings as the Unity Party Of Nigeria (UPN) Candidate for the Kogi State House of Assembly, Kabba/Bunu Constituency.
Having won the primary election followed by the affirmation of our mandate, it is obvious that the struggle for the liberation of Kabba/Bunu Constituency has began. I consider it fitting to write to you all on why voting for the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) candidate, comrade Oluwaloseyi Solomon Babaeko is the viable alternative and the best thing that can ever happen to us in Kabba/Bunu constituency. The present level of decay, the suffocating poverty, the high level of insecurity, youth unemployment and underemployment, and the near collapse of our education system are all man-made. These problems are caused by visionless leadership. Our political spaces have been occupied by the members of the two monstrous political parties (PDP and APC).
This lack of visionary leadership is the reason behind these decades of decadence and woes. Most candidates in other parties such as ADC and SDP are at best the aggrieved members of the aforementioned parties; they are the other side of the same coin. They have the same ideology and from their pedigree and antecedent, we cannot commit our collective destiny into their hands.
The Unity Party Of Nigeria (UPN) is a party that consider the people first. It’s a party that has transformative leadership as her core value. We believe in social democracy, justice and egalitarianism. Our mission is to promote the social, economic and political well-being of all Nigerians through genuine democracy characterized by transparency, accountability, welfare services and social-justice. There is no BETTER Time to reposition Kabba/Bunu constituency than NOW. The land mark achievements of U.P.N under the visionary and feisty leadership of late Obafemi Awolowo, the best president Nigeria never had are still relevant to our history and remains unrivalled. We are not only sure of delivering the dividends of democracy to our people, we are also committed in taking Awo’s legacy to the next level, and determined to sustain his legacy for equitable distribution of resources to our people.
We have 3R’s formulas which are: Reconciliation, Reorganization and Reconstitution. The formulas are coined in tandem with our Ideas and manifestoes which are issues driven, development focused and programmatically packaged for the benefits of all sons, daughters and residents of Kabba/Bunu constituency. With Comrade Oluwaloseyi Solomon Babaeko (a.k.a OSB), Kabba/Bunu Constituency will be great again and the lost glory shall be restored by the Grace of God and the maximum support of the electorates. Our victory across the fifteen wards will be the beginning of a new era of glory. We will make decades happen in weeks. And all the years that the locusts and cankerworms (the thieving political leaders) have eaten will be restored.
Some of the bills to be sponsored by Comrade Solomon Babaeko once elected are:
– The Criminalization of Non-payment of Salaries Pensions and Students Bursary
This bill once passed into law will make it a criminal offence not to pay the workers’ salaries, pensioners and students bursary as at when due.
– The Rotation of the Gubernatorial Position Between Senatorial Districts
The Okun people have been marginalized over time despite the fact that the Okun people were already doing well in Kwara State before the creation of Kogi State. A particular region has been using her population to marginalise other zones. This bill when passed into law will give each region the right to produce governor. Gubernatorial position will be rotated between the senatorial districts to replace the present the arrangement.
– The Bill for a Post Secondary Education
This bill is to make free post secondary school vocational education training compulsory. This will encourage specialization in science, agriculture and technology. In the UPN we believe that the non formal sector of education should be strengthening the formal sector to enhance creativity and innovation.
– The Bill for a Local Government Status for Kabba-Bunu
The bill will seek to get a separate Local Government for Kabba and Bunu people. The bill when passed into law will fast track development and increase employment opportunities. Above all it will increase political participation and draw government closer to the people.
– The Bill for Disability Allowance
This bill is to cater for the disabled people of Kogi State in general, and when passed into law will make the state government responsible for both the welfare and empowerment of the disabled people. The disabled people have abilities that can be harnessed, and they should be encouraged to contribute their quota to both the state and national development. Paying monthly allowance to all disabled people without jobs will also enable them to cater for themselves.
There shall be mobile clinics on our streets and highways with fully equipped ambulance services to treat accident victims and attend to medical emergencies, free internet access (e-library for schools) and the total upgrading of our school facilities. My first one hundred days in office will set the whole constituency on the road to recovery and redemption.
These proposed bills and many more ideas and initiatives of ours will go a very long way to reposition Kabba/Bunu constituency for the overall national development.
It is an incontrovertible fact that the high poverty level has contributed to the alarming insecurity we are currently facing at personal, organizational, communal and national level. The party is determined to make both macro and micro economic activities the basis to guarantee social stability because at the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) we believe that security is an economic issue.
A vote for the APC candidate is a vote for Governor Yahaya Bello and the continuity of state terrorism. We must avoid the ‘lékansi’ of agony, pain, tears, woes and blood. We must stop the era of non-payment of salaries and pensions. The present occupier of Kabba/Bunu constituency seat at the Kogi State House of Assembly has done nothing meaningful to deserve a re-election. A man who kept criminal silence over the plight and harsh treatment of workers does not deserve your vote. A man that covertly allowed cattle colony without saying a word does not deserve your vote. The people of Kabba/Bunu constituency must be made to understand the security implications to the lives and properties by that singular act of the present occupier.
The conventional stand and traditional belief of one term-four years of the Kabba/Bunu people does not agree to his re-election.
A vote for the PDP candidate is a return to the 16 years of misrule, misgovernance and corruption that have pillaged our people for a very long time. The PDP represents Egypt that we once left and never again shall we return to Egypt. We need a change, and that change must be in our thinking, approach and methodology.
We cannot continue to do the same thing and expect different result.
We cannot solve a problem with the same thought mode we used to create the problem.
We cannot put a new wine in an old bottle.
We cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stand. We need a pro-masses ideology and that’s what we both stand for and believe in the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). Another four years for the PDP and the APC and their apologists in other parties will spell doom for us as a people. May God forbid it. What we need is a new wine in a new bottle.
We are fully aware of all the plans of the APC and her candidate to rig the election through voters Inducement, violence, intimidation of voters and harassment, and connivance with the electoral officials. Having studied the red signals projected to us due to the recent election in two South Western states of Nigeria, our efforts have been geared towards intercepting their moves. The Kabba/Bunu people are ready to vote and defend their votes in a revolutionary way. A Nigerian revolution like that of the Russian and French revolutions that will correct the ills and provide abundant life for the people maybe precipitated, if the election is not free, fair and square. I call on the international community to focus attention on Kogi State in the forth coming general elections to avoid further derailment of democracy in Nigeria.
To our dearest electorates, be part of this moment in history. Do turn out in your large numbers and cast your vote for the UPN.
Stand to ensure your votes are counted and defend your votes. Do not sell your vote. The vote buyers are our common enemy and should be treated as such. We need your voice and your vote.
Vote comrade Oluwaloseyi Solomon Babaeko for Kogi State House of Assembly, Kabba/Bunu Constituency.
Think 2019…Babaeko ni ooo
