To me, debate is an avenue for candidates to sell their plans, programmes and policies to the public and present the manifesto of their various political parties in ideal way.
In developed countries like United States of America, and others, performance of candidates during presidential debate will go a long way to determine the outcome of the election.
The Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria in collaboration with Nigerian Election Debate Group will organise a presidential debate on the 19th of February, 2019 in Nigeria.
Five presidential candidates and political parties are expected to participate in the said debate namely; Oby Ezekwesili of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN), Fela Durotoye of Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), President Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kingsley Moughalu of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
I expect aforementioned persons to be there in person and not in proxy as that will give Nigerians the opportunity to choose their leader base on their proposed plans, policies and programmes.
I wish Omoyele Sowore and Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim are part of the proposed debate because those guys are knowledgeable and ready to serve.
