Kogi East Senator, Atai Aidoko Ali has declared that his decision to seek re-election into the Senate next year is in tandem with the provisions of the electoral act and the Nigeria constitution.
Senator Aidoko dropped this statement at the backdrop of some insinuations from some faceless Igala youths agitating against his return to the Senate describing the action as a “Third term” to deny other areas of Kogi East from vying for the position.
According to the media statement monitored on social media, the purported release from the unknown agitators said the senator’s occupation of the same position in the last 16 years has little or nothing to show in terms of development, political emancipation and social liberation.
Kogi East senator impressed on the people of the area that his intention to return to the Senate was borne out of his efforts to improve the social, political and economic development of the entire Igala/Bassa land, advising the youths to channel their energies to his re-election project.
“The senator is not unaware of a grand plans by people perceived to be stooges of other contestants who were not satisfied with the on going process by sponsoring some dissident youths to rise against the political advancement of the race in the current dispensation.
“Some of the senators have spent more than three to four terms in the Senate of the federal republic, we wonder why that of Kogi East senator will be an exception,” the statement read.
He reminded the people of Kogi East that as a serving senator, Aidoko is still much in the race back to the red chamber, stating that other areas are also at liberty to sponsor candidates as allowed by the constitution of the party.
He dismissed the threat of protest vote against his ambition, warning on the consequences of voting for any APC candidate in 2019 particularly with the peculiar experience in Kogi state.
“The whole issue is not all about senator Aidoko, it is all about the Igala and Bassa race as well as the ugly plight we are confronted with now and how to do away with this monster.
“We need a collective efforts and joint forces to allow a natural passage of this present awkward phenomenon, rather than drumming for the extension of this dangerous trend.”
