The current Miss Ijumu, Komolafe Olayinka has called on youths to become the architects of their own future by participating actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise as well as the anticipated general elections.
Miss Olayinka made the statement recently during a one-day enlightenment and sensitization seminar organised by her office to equip youths in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi state and its environs on their role in the electoral process.
Aside sensitising and mobilizing people for the next election, the seminar she explained was tailored at  increasing awareness among the youths on the need for them to assume their role as “defenders rather than destroyers of the electoral process”.
She then called on all eligible youths in the country to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to enable them vote their preferred candidates as well as enhance democratic values in the country.
Also speaking,  Pastor Lamidi urged youths to shun mediocrity and brace themselves up for their leadership roles; just as he appealed to them to strive to be agents of nation-building rather than allowing themselves to be used as tools for electoral fraud  and violence by selfish politicians.
While applauding the beauty queen for her exceptional leadership qualities, Pst. Lamide observed that  her commitment towards ensuring youths partake actively in the electoral process was encouraging.
On his part, one of the resource persons and lecturer with the Business Administration Department of Kogi State University , Dr J.J Orugun said as key stakeholders in desired electoral reform process, youths could no longer sit on the fence hence the need to mobilize and integrate them fully into the planning and decision making exercise.
Also speaking,  Mr Femi Fashagba emphasized  on the need for youth to be careful against being used as thugs by politician, saying it has been on record that political violence is hatched by politicians using the teeming jobless youths.
