2019: Kogi Youths Drags Ex-Kogi Gov’s Son into Guber Race, Pays for His Intent Form

Youths from Kogi West Senatorial District on Monday declared their support for the governorship aspiration of Abubakar Idris, son of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris.

Addressing newsmen at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secretariat in Lokoja where they obtained the intent form for the gubernatorial hopeful, the youths noted that their support for the junior Idris was premised on the fact that the state was well manage and recorded unprecedented development when his father (Alhaji Ibrahim Idris) was in charge  of Kogi State as governor.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Abubakar Sadiq, who is also the president Kogi West Youth Forum, said that the sufferings in Kogi State can only be amiliorated if a “humane and focused character” like Abubakar is allowed to pilot the affairs of the state.

He noted that the infrastructures put in place by previous administrations have all given way, saying that Kogi is in dire need of upgrade of its critical infrastructures for the benefit of its citizenry.

According to him, Abubakar has made his mark in his public and business life, saying entrusting him with the management of a complex state like Kogi would not be a problem.

He appealed to Abubakar not to reject their “clarion call,” saying that Kogi state needs “urgent and serious deliverance”.

“Never in the history of Kogi State have we seen such magnitude of suffering. People are dying from hunger,  poverty and deprivation in the midst of plenty. Kogi State needs very urgent and serious deliverance. We are therefore appealing to Alhaji Abubakar not to reject our plea.”

“Our higher institutions are in mess with lecturer migrating in droves for non payment of salaries. Teachers, pensioners and other civil servants are not left out of the sufferings”, he said.

He called on the youths across the state to rally round Alhaji Abubakar whom he said has their welfare and well-being at heart.
