The Joint Action Committee For All Progressive Congress, APC, Lokoja Local Government chapter, has called on Hon. Saidu Akawu Salihu, to join the house of representatives race for Lokoja/ Kogi Federal Constituency in 2019.
The forum made the appeal on Tuesday in Lokoja at an event to canvass support for the former lawmaker and Chairman APC Reconciliation Committee in Lokoja and Kogi local government areas of Kogi State.
The Chairman of the Forum, Hon. Musa Abubakar Ali, and others at the occasion also called on members of the forum in the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency to support the move, saying, ” we want to use this event to call or our brothers from Kogi on the need to support SAS for 2019.
According the group, Akawu has remained silent on whether to join the 2019 House of Reps race for Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.
“We need to urge him to join the race because he’s the most qualify, his performance as chairman APC reconciliation committee and the rule he played during the just concluded bye-election clearly indicates that when giving the opportunity, Akawu would bring development to the doorstep of the common man,” the chairman stated.
In her own remarks, Secretary of the group, Mrs Zainab Abdullahi urged SAS as he’s fondly call by his admirers to take advantage of his “record-breaking achievements as a onetime member of Kogi State House of Assembly to declare his desire to join the race.
She charged the people of Kogi/Lokoja federal constituency to do everything possible to make this project a success by encouraging and support the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello, adding that, more importantly, Akawu should seize the moment and take full advantage of his constitutional right as former lawmaker to join the race ahead of September APC, primary.
In his own remark, the Chairman Board of Trustee of the forum, Mallam Aliyu Ahoko, who said Akawu deserve their support, also expressed the determination of the forum to ensure that the APC win all elections from governorship to presidential election in Kogi State come 2019.
Aliyu said: “the forum is not only concerned about Akawu’s victory but also the general success of the APC at the polls in Lokoja /Kogi Federal Constituency in particular and the State in general. Therefore, we want to place here on record that we have resolved to work tirelessly to ensure the success of this noble cause come 2019.”
