Concerned members of the Lokoja local government, Ward C, chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), under the aegis of PDP Youth Vanguard, yesterday, debunked rumours that the former commissioner for Commerce, Hon. Yabagi Bologi would contest for the state House of Assembly election under PDP come 2019, warning against any attempt to ridicule his image.
The group through its Chairman, Ibrahim Yakubu and the Secretary, Musa Usman, in a statement issued in Lokoja, accused some people as brain behind the rumours.
“It is obvious, that since after the party zoned the house of assembly to Ward C, some persons within the party in the constituency, are still not settled.
“These persons see Bologi as a threat, hence their reactions in trying to attack his personality,” the group said.
According to them, “We have read in the social media about some persons insinuating that Bologi, intends hijacking the party structure in Ward C, in order to actualize his political ambition. This however, sounds laughable; we see it as an attempt to ridicule the former Commissioner.
“Hon. Yabagi Bologi is not contesting for the assembly seat even though he is well qualified constitutionally and by pedigree, because he is still widely loved and accepted by Lokoja people.
“Consequently, we consider all these as attempts to distract the attention of the former Commissioner, at a time when he is busy working with other party leaders and focusing his attention on how to reposition our great party for the challenges ahead.
“Bologi has made Ward C proud during his services as local government chairman and Commissioner, with his achievements and sacrifice to keep Lokoja LG PDP members together. We think he deserves every respect and regard.
“There is no amount of blackmail or insult by these detractors, no matter how hard they try, that can erase the achievements of Bologi,” the group stressed.
