The Galadima1 of Ankpa Kingdom, Prince Yakub Yakub has officially declared his political ambition to join the 2019 House of Assembly in Ankpa 1 state constituency.
Yakub informed party executives and prominent leaders of his ambition at the People Democratic Party (PDP) office on Tuesday.
“One thing I can say for certain is that I will be actively involved in the political process going forward, I will no longer sit back and watch things go bad.
“As we all know, election season in Nigeria is fast approaching and political gladiators are already building their war chests but the average young Nigerian is bothered less.
“It’s almost like a feeling of powerlessness and despair, most believe the processes have already been predetermined by the powers so why bother wasting time to get a voters card talk less of actually voting which is very wrong. The common notion is that the candidate with the largest war chest wins and we have heard many tales of people selling their votes for for a chicken change.
“I am not happy with the state of my constituency today, most people who know me can vouch for the fact that I have always been interested in politics of good and positive development and I have never had an eye for politics of money but with the level of decadence in my constituency today I have been forced to run and represent my constituency.
“I am very comfortable having recorded many successes in my service to humanity especially in my constituency Ankpa1 over the years, it would be easier for me to do more if given the mandate to represent my people at the state level.
“I can no longer sit back and watch the less privileged, the unemployed and the downtrodden suffering in my constituency any longer. It’s time for us to take responsibility for the type of a better place we want to live in.
“While I officially set to run for elective office in my constituency just like I always say, I will be actively involved in the political process going forward, I will no longer sit back and watch things go bad.
“I enjoin all young people to support this movement, please register to vote, join a political party, vote for a better candidate, be the change you seek, it’s time to stop ranting on social media and take positive actions.
“The young people in Nigeria are the most powerful single block in the country today however the old guard try to divide us along ethnic, religious and cultural lines, but once we unite nobody can stop us,” he said.
