It is said that “the stronger the boat (of democracy),  the more it is able to meet the challenges of its voyage and deliver on its promise”, I.e, to the citizens!
After an in-depth analysis, with a rigorous interactions and having professionally and prudently studied the political shenanigans, permutations, machinations, alignments and realignments by politicians, civil society organizations,  stakeholders and professional bodies ahead of the 2019 general election of Ankpa 2, I have come to a conclusion based on convictions that Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu remain the hope for Ankpa 2.
On assumptions of office in 2015, Hon Rabiu as fondly called came with a change mantra but little did the elites – business and political class whose interest thrives on corruption  (sharing of constituency allowances) knew what he meant by the word change and so, this necessitated his presentation of constituency allowance cheque in a town hall meeting in which constituents deliberated and in a scale of preference prioritized their needs which birthed the presence of different projects as spread across the eight wards he is representing.
To say the least, the air of freedom we breathe today is the result of the sacrifices made by thousands of pro-democracy activists, human right campaigners and likeminds who organised as civil society and as thus to make Ankpa 2 great again.
Putting this into consonance, Hon Rabiu Momoh Alfa in three years has with courage and determination done what his predecessors could not do in many years of representation with his fascinating imprints of quality representation and with, performed creditably well leaving indelible footprints.
Ankpa 2, once known for grammatical blunders and as docile courtesy of lawmakers that are ill equipped with little or no education of legislative practice is now the bride of legislative intellectualism because of Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu who is well equipped, intellectually mobile and highly sophisticated for what he is bored for.
Hon Rabiu is now a legislative general with analytical presentations that are objectively laced and factual. His legislative craftsmanship is displayed evidently at the hallowed chamber during plenaries as his activism is people oriented, a virtue that has endeared him to his constituents and beyond for people who are taking refuge in his legislation that are human driven.
To move forward, we must develop a democratic culture in which the will of the people will be treated as sacred and immune to subversion by anti-democratic elements and hence our marketing of Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu because the beauty of democracy is that its practice is never final and so has room for improvement, no matter how old a democratic society may be. That is, where we falter, we must not fall and where we are weak, we must not surrender.
Obviously, some legislative aspirants are already surfacing with brandished and rented schemers to confuse Ankpa 2 but the people of Enjema and Ojokwu already know who means well for them. Since the world is like a dancing masquerade which can not be seen well standing in one place, I make case for a later day.
As it is, “If you can not be a pencil to write your brothers happiness, at least you can be an eraser to wipe away his sorrows” Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu remains the contender while others are mere pretenders who shall at the heat of it, retreat!
