Youths under the umbrella of PDP Youth Vanguard (PYV) in Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State has described Hon. Alfred Sunday Bello as unfit to represent them in the State Assembly.
In a statement signed by Hon. Moses Aiyetehin, the group noted that Bello can no longer be entrusted with their collective destinies.
The statement reads in parts: “It is no longer news that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kabba/Bunu local government have been grossly compromised over issues relating to the forth coming House of Assembly party primaries.
“The leaders in the likes of Hon Joseph Dada, Hon Ogbonikan, Hon Ben Olorunfemi, Chief Elebiyo, Engr Bello, Hon Iwamide, Dr Medubi are hell bent that Hon Alfred Bello must be the one to pick the house of assembly primary ticket which has been zoned to Kabba.
“The leaders, out of their selfish arrangements, have even gone as far as sharing state positions should the party regain Kogi state and have given the position of a commissioner to Hon Joseph Dada. While special advisers and other positions are also being shared among the other leaders.
“Why must it be Alfred Bello again, after 12 years? This is a question that has been yearning for answers in the last 5months. The same Alfred Bello that was in the state assembly between 2003-2007 and never delivered any dividend of democracy to his constituency.
“Alfred Bello who represented Kabba/Bunu constituency and all he could do for the community was to paint just one church in Bunu land for a period of 4 years and his only achievement in Kabba was to build himself an hotel for his personal gains.
“The same Alfred Bello who went round secondary schools across Kabba to extort them of their money under the guise of building a stadium for the community. School children out of enthusiasm quickly paid their contributions towards the stadium.
“The same Alfred Bello who collected funds from our brothers and sisters in the United States and United Kingdom to the tune of ₦18,677,000 (Eighteen million, six hundred and seventy-seven thousand naira). He collected all of this money in a First bank account number 2048652122 with account name Alfred Sunday Bello.
“The same Alfred Bello, after he had cajoled the entire Kabba/Bunu constituency, went to the land acquired for the said stadium and carted away with all the concrete blocks he bought with the money he collected from constituents only to take them to his hotel site along kabba – Obajana road to build the now dilapidated Optimum Hotel, Kabba.
“This is the same person the so called leaders want to represent us in 2019 at the state assembly. They claimed he has experience.
“What experience can a dishonourable man have? Such experience can only be in extortion and mismanagement of public funds. The leaders must be very careful with what they say or choose, this is no longer a time of impunity and imposition of candidates.
“The party must be careful so they do not jeopardize their chances at the polls come 2019. Let us not forget that this was what came to play in 2015 elections which led us into being an opposition party.  We call on the PDP leadership in the Kabba/Bunu to give other aspirants a chance, else it stands the chance of losing the seat to the opposition in the forthcoming election.”
