2015: Not a Year To Dread – Awoniyi

Nigerians have been told not to see 2015 as a year to dread as predicated by the negative media reports making the headlines, rather they have been asked to see the coming year as one full with God’s blessings and promises.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, stated this when he received in audience, the State Executives of the Christian Association of Nigerian who were in his office to felicitate with the government of Capt Idris Wada for witnessing another Christmas celebration.

The State Deputy Governor urged Nigerians to hold onto God, noting that having a trust on God would help save the nation from its challenges.

Yomi Awoniyi, called for prayers for the present administration of Capt Idris Wada whom he disclosed is working so hard amidst scare resources to meet the yearning and aspiration of people of the State, but is being misunderstood by reason of dwindling financial resources.

The State Deputy Governor prayed God to open the minds of citizens of the State to enable them make demands that are appropriate, noting that despite dwindling financial resources, the present administration is daily bombarded with agitation for wage increase and other demands that are difficult to meet following the drop in financial resources presently accruing to state’s of the federation.

While noting that government is not a father Christmas that can meet all the demands of its citizens at the same time, urged Nigerians to have trust in God and not government in meeting all their demands.

Awoniyi called for prayers for a prosperous new year for the State, disclosing that with God, all the challenges facing the state would be surmounted.

Earlier in his remarks, Bishop Emmanuel Egbunu, Kogi State CAN President, said man’s greatest need amidst the nation’s challenge is for a savior, described Christmas as a season of good news and hope for Nigerians.

Bishop Egbunu, urged Nigerians to allow the joy of God for the season dispel the fear for the hard time and challenges the nation is passing through, urged them to look at 2015 as a year of God’s blessing for Nigerians with faith.

Bishop Egbunu, commended Awoniyi for sponsoring pilgrims to yearly Jerusalem Pilgrimage through CAN and assured of the support of CAN for the administration of Capt Idris Wada at all times.
