2015 House of Rep: Group Declares Support for Hon. King in Okene

A political group, ‘Okene-Ogori/Magongo Youth Advancement for Good Governance’ yesterday in Okene declared support for Hon. AbdulAzeez Idris King, one time house of representative member in the national assembly ahead of 2015 general election.

The leader of the group, Mallam Yahaya Suberu told our reporter that their support was predicated on the past achievements of honorable King which they believed no one has surpassed him on that till date.

They described Hon. King a rear gem, an astute achiever, a man who has touched the life of downtrodden in the society. The group noted that when Hon. King was first elected, he performed credibly well, left vacuum yet to be filled by his successors saying they are capitalizing on that to garner support for him in the next election.

Enumerating the achievements of Hon. King to the society in the past years, the group leader said in 2003, ‘he gave out soft loan to Youths, men and women to set up micro-business, and this had greatly contributed to the prevailing peace Okene enjoyed by the people till date.’

He said ‘the ex-lawmaker, for his interest in the economic development of the society, initiated human empowerment programme in which Saloon car, Peugeot 505 were donated to the elderly in the society. He also gave out the sum of N750,000 to 2005 Census Committee on enlightenment/demarcation Enumeration Exercise.’

The group Leader further explained that he (Hon. King) did not stop at that but went ahead to distribute over hundred of Motorcycles, grinding machines to empower the youths and women of Okene-Ogori/Magongo Federal Constituency.’

Contributing, Yahaya Suberu, a resident of Okene town said Hon. King is generous as his positive contribution to the society was what earned him popularity that led to his victory in 2003 national assembly election. He added that even prior to the year 2003; he was known for positive work. He embarked on scholarship to students in which more than hundreds benefited.

Mallam Alhassan Egunaye from Bariki Ward equally bore his mind on the personality of Hon. King. He has these to say: ‘Hon. King is a humble person, vibrant and articulate. He is such a person that keeps to his promises. He honors agreement whether written or unwritten. He is a man that can be trusted. This is why I keep to him.’

Hon. AbdulAzeez Idris King was first elected as house of representative members in Okene/Ogori-Mangogo constituency under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in 2003. He is presently the secretary of Okene local government of Kogi state and also one of the Aspirants gunning for house of representative under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in Okene/Ogori-mangogo constituency in the next general election.

The ex-lawmaker had his primary and secondary education at St. Annes Primary School Kakuri, Kaduna, in the year 1982 and Government High School Ilorin, Kwara State, in the year 1987. He is a graduate of Agricultural (Animal Science) from Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto, in the year 1996. He furthered his education by acquiring executive Training Program from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeeb Scotland, in the year 2004.
