In the voice of Lady Morgana who won senatorial election on the altar of emotional blackmail and crass mendacity, Fancy Media Team (FMT) can vehemently say ‘hurray!’ to Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the authentic Governor of Kogi State who just clocked 100 days in office. Of course, ‘hurray’ is in order because you cannot but eulogize Alhaji Ododo’s heroic mien and unabashed determination that saw him through the primary election of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the election proper which was conducted 11th November last year and the latter failed but coordinated attacks he has weathered immediately after the election to this point.
When it comes to politics, Kogi State is peculiar and FMT believes that when democracy was birthed in the ancient city of Athens in Greece with its lofty tenets, the promoters did not foresee possible eruption of bile-filled sectional dissidents in the Confluence State who are bent on using the freedom granted by the system of government to wreck havoc on the fabric of the society. Therefore, we say hurray to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on this milestone.
Without sounding overtly panegyric, Fancy Media Team (FMT) keenly observed that Ododo is the only politician that embraced decency and decorum in all the activities that culminated into his eventual victory as appropriately declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He was realistic in his manifesto and firm in his desires for consolidations. He did not promise to erect Tower of Babel so that the people of Kogi State can have direct access to God. He is enlightened to the point that he knew that some procedures would have to be followed to revive some of the critical moribund projects in state. Alhaji Ododo never claim to be omniscient on issues that need valuable contributions of stakeholders when he gets to the office.
During his consultations which were done across party and ethnic inclinations, Alhaji Ododo pledged to sustain an egalitarian Kogi State where cconsiderations regarding who holds certain political offices will be blind to ethnic sentiment which his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello was able to dismantle. Like his predecessor, Alhaji Ododo’s first and inaugural appointments which had an even spread across the Senatorial District of the state depicted him as a cosmopolitan and detribalised leader who is poised to harness the potential of the state for the general good of all.
Governor Ododo is of the APC and on 27th of January, 2024 when he was sworn in, he did not mince words in expressing his readiness to key into the programme and policies of the government at the centre. The Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had already marshalled out plans in providing succour to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal which was believed to be the drain pipe through which corrupt cabals and economic saboteurs have been milking the nation. Through palliatives, the state under the leadership of Alhaji Ododo had partnered with the Federal Government to distribute hundreds of bags of rice and other foodstuffs to the people in phases. Alhaji Ododo has also had strategic engagements with farmers where farm inputs were released in order to improve food sufficiency in the state, and this is yielding expected results already.
Alhaji Ododo promised improved welfare for Kogi State workers and today, the testimonials are everywhere except in the camps of hired e-media mobs and urchins majorly situated in the Federal Capital Territory with the sole assignment of de-marketing the state through sponsored protests for illusive political ends. His predecessor built Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) and Kogi State University Kabba (KSUK) where he has paid working visits to ensure the accepted and approved standards for the ongoing projects are not deviated from. Provision of adequate security was one of the achievements of the New Direction administration and Governor Ododo was also poised to sustain this trajectory when he recently distributed over 150 patrol vehicles to beef up security in all Local Government Areas of the state.
Despite the gloomy realities that resulted to subversion of electoral fortunes against the All Progressives Congress APC in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area in the November 11 governorship election, Governor Ododo has approved immediate rehabilitation of all internal roads in the area. This is a further proof that he is never cut out for sectional governance regardless of the jaundiced prism through which the morally bankrupt opposition agents viewed him.
We are excited that inspite of prevailing legal battles against his victory, Alhaji Ododo has remained unperturbed in delivering the mandate freely given to him by the majority of the people of Kogi State. Fancy Media Team (FMT) therefore admonish agents of cynicism and opposition to tread with caution, and be sensitive enough to commend the government of the day when necessary. Hatred should not eat deep into your sub-consciousness to the point that when a government approves an upgrade of an air strip to a cargo airport, your accumulated hatred will interpret it to be something else.
