The first executive governor of Kogi state, Prince Abubakar Audu has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State of sponsoring about 15 aspirants with N10 million each to pick the APC intent and nomination forms so as to act as spoilers for him at the party’s primary election scheduled to hold two weeks from now.

At the last count, 27 aspirants had picked the forms at the APC secretariat with the party richer by N137 million. Audu, who was reacting to a poser on the array of over 26 aspirants jostling for the APC ticket and how he will weather the storm, said there was no storm.

For me, there is no single storm. That is the gimmick of the PDP. They joined our party last week and by Monday they were at the secretariat to pick the form.  “I was made to understand that the PDP gave N10 million each to about 15 aspirants that you saw at the secretariat picking form.

It is not the question of picking form, are they on ground?” He said some of them have never contested any election and have never been members of the party even before the last general election.  “They were asked to come and constitute themselves as spoilers.

Some of them are there to carry out the bid of the PDP. But as far as we are concerned, even if they are 100, it would have been better for the Party because the more the merrier.”

The former Governor vowed to actualise the much agitated “power shift” by the people of central and western part of the state, if given the opportunity to serve the state again.

Audu spoke in Lokoja over the weekend during his formal declaration of intent to contest for the governorship of the state. “We are all brothers and sisters, the only way to foster unity and true love among ourselves in the state is when power goes round.

The Igalas, Ebiras and Okuns by history belong to old Kabba province and as such whatever we have in the state should be shared up to the minorities. That is the only way we can live peacefully and harmoniously in Kogi state.”
