Excitement as Rep. Halims Flags-Off Uko-Biraidu Link Bridge, Ajobe-Akatampia Road Rehabilitation, Drainage

Member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Steel Development, Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Ali Halims has flagged-off the construction work of Uko – Biraidu link bridge and the rehabilitation of a 3.5km Ajobe – Akatampia road with drainage at Okpo and Ajobe in and Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State respectively.

The contract for both the bridge and road rehabilitation projects was solely facilitated by the Federal Lawmaker who doubles as the All Progressives Congress’ candidate for Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency in the 2023 general election through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with an estimated completion period of twelve weeks.

In his brief remarks at Uko River, the Kogi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Hon. Yunusa Olofu described the Uko bridge as gigantic, important and economically of great benefits to not just the people of the village or Ankpa Federal Constituency but entirety of Igala land and commuters.

Olofu who is also a former Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government Area explained that the new Bridge when completed would contribute greatly in reducing travel time from Okpo to Biraidu and other Suburb communities of Ankpa Local Government Area. 

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government, Hon. Adejoh Friday commended the Federal Lawmaker for his several infrastructure developments across the three Local Government Areas of his jurisdiction. He reminded the gathering that, the project is part of their promise to deliver dividends to the people in 2019 adding that there are many reasons to thank God for making these promises realisable.

On his part, the Executive Director of Messes Anino Nigeria Limited, the Construction Company handling both contract, Mr E. P. Onyido thanked the Ministry and indeed Hon Halims for the opportunity given to his company to handle the projects, stating that it was an indication that their expertise in handling such projects was recognised. He therefore appealed to stakeholders and residents of the benefiting communities to be of maximum cooperation with the company in a bid to get the job delivered on schedule.

Earlier, the immediate past member representing Ankpa Federal Constituency, Hon. Hassan Omale commended Hon. Halims for re-embarking on the rehabilitation of the Ajobe – Akatampia Road adding that the politics of National Assembly requires continuity of terms as he urged the people to rally round Hon. Halims for a second term in office
