It is no longer news that the member representing Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro in the House of Representatives, Hon. Hassan Omale is among the 35 lawmakers that dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for other political parties.
Hon Hassan Omale has pitched tent with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a chat with newsmen on Friday, Omale berated Kogi state chapter of APC for the mass exodus the party is witnessing on a daily basis.
Hon Omale pointed out that lack purposeful leadership and internal democracy in the Kogi state chapter of the APC as its Achilles heels.
“The state chapter has been unable to settle the disputes that arose from the sudden demise of Prince Abubakar Audu of blessed memory which in turn gave rise to Governor Yahaya Bello’s emergence as Audu’s replacement.
“Despite the overtures from the Audu-Faleke group, as a result of the two reconciliation teams from the headquarters, the state government didn’t allow the process to see the light of the day,” he said.
The Legislator regretted the fact that Kogi State APC is no longer a habour for progressives and democrats as candidates had already been anointed for every elective position before the primaries.
He stated that all members of the Audu- Faleke group has been marked for mandate denial, to be schemed out automatically.
Hon Hassan Omale added that the last congress election in the wards, local government and state was also a prove that there is no internal democracy in the APC as the Audu-Faleke group were dubiously schemed out.
“Without doubt, progressives can no longer remain in Kogi APC. Usurpers and opportunists with no ideology have taken over the party. No patriotic Kogite will be comfortable to remain in APC.
“The APC-led state government has not been able to alleviate the pains of the people occasioned by non-payment of salaries and pension.
“The state government has blatantly refused to recognise the main stake holders of the APC that made the party got the victory in the last gubernatorial elections and forcefully replacing them with people who contributed in no way to the success of the APC in the state.
“Our supporters are no longer comfortable with our continued stay in APC. They gave their all, some even sold their properties to support the party in 2015. It is the wish of our supporters to look for another political platform other than APC.
“We are committed to continue with the legacy of late Prince Abubakar Audu which is development of both infrastructure and people.
“The fact is, the APC in Kogi state is a house divided against itself. This has led to departure of many supporters and stakeholders like the Kogi East Zonal Leader, Hon. Daniel Isah and other big wigs. I cannot ignore the call of progressives from my constituency to crossover to the Peoples Democratic Party.
“I am aware that the enemies of progress are spreading rumours that some of us who decided to leave the APC did so because we were induced with money. I was not paid by anybody. I can’t be paid by anybody and will not be paid by anybody to leave one party to the other.  I am a proud performing legislator with visible achievements in my constituency and the green chambers,” he added.
