For her humane disposition, empowerment, charity and passion to the downtrodden in and out of office, the immediate past Kogi State first lady, Hajiya Halima Ladi Wada has bagged humanitarian award from the popular ‘Who is Who in Igalaland’.
The award, 20th in its series, is designed to honour Igala sons and daughters who have distinguished themselves both in private and public endeavours. The ‘Who is Who in Igalaland’ event is geared towards alleviation of poverty and people oriented programs.
Mrs Wada was honoured for her life-touching activities during her stint as Kogi State First Lady. Her footprints can still be seen through the establishment of skill acquisition centres that trained a lot of Kogites leading to wealth, job creation and self sustenance.
Aside jobs and wealth creation, Halima Wada also provided succour to the less privileged in the society through its food outreach for widows, orphans and disabled (FOWOD) in the society
The former first lady also provided medical assistance during its tenure by organising free rural medical outreach for the people of the state along with routine immunisation programs for the children.
Women in the state were engaged through a micro training and grants, provided with working tools to enhance and improve their economic activities in the state.
The organisers urged prominent Igalas to emulate the former first lady and congratulated her while advising her to sustain the tempo to liberate the race from the shackles of under development.
