When Governor Wada’s Government is Devoid of Direction and Sense of Responsibility by Odih Daniel N.

Ours is a complacent society where people seem to care only when they are hungry and thirsty, and care less when the hunger or thirst is not immediately threatening. It is this spirit of nonchalance that gives Governor Wada the impetus to stay in power without a single project to show for his existence and nobody cares. When people make a mockery of their own existence, even the spectators will join in the show.

We have written articles, the only means we can penetrate the barricade of distance between us and the government and even laid complaints over the seemingly non-existent government of Captain Idris Wada, and no single action was taken to take our complaints into consideration or jerk the tepid governor into action. Whether he works or not, who is it that will complain? Political gladiators, popularly called the cabals have their allocation from the government purse. Whether the city or the government is brought down or ruined, it is none of their fever.

In a more sane society, Captain Wada is not worthy of coming nearer the throne of power let alone staying in power. This assertion is imperative because the plane of government is given to a man who has no faintest idea about how it is flown. Three years after, and Kogi State has yet to see a sense of direction in the daily activities of this dormant government. No new road was developed, old ones are not repaired, no job was created, no promotion of workers, workers salaries are not increased, and we get allocations every month, and nobody knows what Wada does with this money.

We talk of quality education in Kogi State, government owned primary school pupils are at home for a long time, many of whom are from poor homes. Months after the interview of mere paltry 500 teachers, the government has yet to take a decision on or employ the teachers in Kogi State. There is no step taken, after many months by the government to salvage the situation. The government is satisfied with the ways things are. Sometimes I wonder if these people ever have a taste of something good, or ever appreciate beauty they see elsewhere.

Captain Wada, to say the least, is the greatest woe that ever befalls the people of Kogi State. A walk round some major parts of Lokoja, places popularly called GRA(God Rejected Areas) and New Layouts, not to say a word about other areas begging for development, you will be shocked to see how backward this city called Lokoja is. If Governor Wada cannot take care of Lokoja city, it will be a daydream to believe Governor Wada will develop any part of Kogi State.

The government abandons its responsibilities in pursuit of shadows, and that leads us into a loss of direction. Where a poor man’s efforts fail him, he hands over his woes to God, who alone will apportion to each us what we are due to get.
