The United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC), Kogi state council, as a Labour center in the state, cannot fold its arms and watch the security on our roads deteriorate beyond remedy.
In the last few days, the Okene – Lokoja road has become a dreadful zone to the extent that it claimed the lives of three Military personnel to attacks by bandits while others were kidnapped.
The Congress wish to draw the attention of government to this very ugly trend of activities and remind them of their primary responsibility, which is the protection of life and property.
To this extent, we call on the government, both at the state and federal levels, to as a matter of urgency, return that corridor of road to a Safe Haven, where every motorist and commuter will have protection against any form of evil.
More so, the road is very strategic to the nation as it connects the south and northern parts of the country.
We cannot continue to witness more blood shed on that route.
