U.S. Female Missionary, Phyllis Sortor Kidnapped In Kogi State

An American woman, Rev. Phyllis Sortor, working as a Christian missionary in Emiworo, Ajaokuta local government area of Kogi State, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen yesterday.

According to Kogi state police spokesman Sola Collins Adebayo, she was whisked away at around 10:00 am (0900 GMT) Monday”.

Nigerian security forces have swung into action immediately with spirited efforts to ensure her release as soon as possible.

Concerned Emiworo residents, who spoke with Kogireports, said villagers in their numbers have stormed forest in Emiworo in search for the kidnapped Sortor.

Rev. Phyllis Sortor is a Seattle missionary and Seattle Pacific University alumna. Sortor has been working in Emiworo for about 10 years.
