The Senator representing Kogi central senatorial district,  Ahmed Ogembe has commended Governor Yahaya Bello in his effort to get rid of criminal elements in the five Local Government Areas making up Kogi central senatorial district.

In a press statement personally signed by the distinguished senator and made available to press men,

Ogembe lamented the invasion of the senatorial district by armed robbers and kidnappers which has made the area a national flashpoint for criminality thereby portraying the good and hospitable people of Kogi central in bad light.

The statement which partly read “I sincerely appreciate the efforts of the Alhaji Yahaya Bello led state Government which has been up and doing in ensuring that the lives and properties of citizens of Kogi State especially those in Kogi Central Senatorial district is protected.

However, I want to urge the state government to put citizens on early notice subsequently to enable them stockpile food items, their drugs and drinks, in order not to trample on their fundamental Human Rights.

We quite understand the need for this action at this time but we must be conscious of the overall effects on the Kogi Central economy, businesses, citizens and put their preparedness into consideration.

“I want to use the opportunity to appeal to the State government and our security agencies most especially the military to kindly give a window of opportunity for people to stockpile food to cushion the effect of ongoing curfew imposed in the five local governments of Kogi Central to reduce the stress on the people, most especially the innocent citizens.
I therefore call the relevant authorities to round up their assignments in good time so that the people can go about their daily and normal businesses.” Senator Ogembe said.

He urged the citizens to be law abiding and cooperate with security agencies in their efforts to sanitize the state of criminal elements.
