The House of Representatives member-elect for Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu and Ofu federal constituency, Hon. Idris David Zacharias has urged the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, to remain steadfast in his bid to seek re-election as governor of Kogi state come November 2019

Hon Zacharias who was reacting to the declaration of the  governor last week Wednesday to seek re-election said beside constitutionally backings that he has to contest as a true Nigerian, he said the governor has performed credibly well hence, the need to consolidate on his gains.

According to the House of Representatives Member elect, Bello has done what is right as he has rekindled the hopes of the party in the state to continually remain as the party to beat in the state from the last outing where the party cleared all twenty five seats of the Houses of Assembly across the state.

Zacharias lauded Yahaya Bello for playing a pivotal role in the fight against insecurity in the state as well as putting the party on a good ground with several election wining networks put in place across the structures of the party in the state.

Reacting to the attack on the person and leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Bello through what he described as a “kangaroo protest” by some youths and their backers, the member elect described the calls for Yahaya Bello not to re-contest as unthinkable, laughable, childish and a reflection of the fact that the sponsor of that protest does not know what the constitution says about the rights entitled to by Nigerians.

“That nothing is working in the state according to the protesters is a laughable accusation and shows the ignorance of those behind the protest,” he said.

He continued, “These individuals coming out to protest instead of them going about to bring the match of Yahaya Bello do not mean well for the state. Yahaya Bello is on the right track. He deserves the encouragement of all.”

He applauded Yahaya Bello for the diligence and dedication demonstrated in the running of the state especially that Kogites can sleep with their two eye closed without been faced with the security issues that was prevalent before his arrival as governor.

“I am solidly behind his re-election and will continue to show solidarity with the governor whose only sin is that he is not an Igala. The actions of people calling themselves Kogi Rescue Group or whatever deserve unequivocal condemnation,” Zacharias said.

He therefore called on party members to match the people’s criticism of Yahaya Bello with its projects that are scattered allover in parts of the state; a move which he said will silence those protesting against his return.
