Police Kill 2 Robbers, Arrest One in Ankpa

The Kogi State Police Command said yesterday that it killed two robbery suspects and arrested one other suspect, who specialize in car snatching.
Briefing journalists, the state police commissioner, Hilary Opara, said the two suspected armed robbers were killed during a gun battle with the police at Ankpa, the headquarters of Ankpa Local Government Area.
He said four armed robbers attacked and robbed fuel attendants of a filling station at Ankpa, and that before they left the scene, the police got a distress call about the incident.
According to him, the police patrol confronted the armed robbers while leaving the scene and a gun battle ensued.
Opara said four AK 47 rifles, one pistol baretta, six live ammunition, nine magazine, six GSM sets, national identity card, a Golf car with registration number, KNA 56 XA, a white Honda Civic with registration number AG 601 BGT and N46,000 cash were recovered from them.
The commissioner further stated that one Omotayo Ladipapo of Akoko Owo market, Ondo State was intercepted with a Toyota Camry with registration number BQ 25 KSF at Okehi during a stop and search operation.
He said when the car was searched, the police recovered a pair of lady’s sandals and telephone number and that when the number was called, a voice responded that the car was snatched at Ibada the previous day.
He added that the car and suspect are in police custody, calling on members of the public to assist police with useful information.
