Police Arrest Kabba Bank Robbery Suspects

The Kogi State Police Command said at the weekend that it has arrested two of the armed robbers who attacked First Bank and Mainstreet Bank in Kabba, in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that five people were killed during the incident which occurred on Friday.

Addressing journalists, the state Police Commissioner Saidu Madawaki said the suspects, identified as Rasaki Bello and Bayo Femi, are assisting the police in their investigation.

Madawaki, who also confirmed the death of a police Constable, Mr Tanko Paul, during the incident, said the police put up stiff resistance against the robbers.

We gathered that gunmen in large numbers attacked the banks simultaneously using Improvised Explosive Device and other items.

Madawaki added that due to the efforts of his men, the robbers were unable to cart away money from First Bank, though they did take away money from Mainstreet Bank.

He further stated that said during the gun battle, two robbers, a police officer and two civilians were killed.
