Brigadier General Paul Olushola Okuntimo is the latest casualty in the Yahaya Bello’s government of public ridicule. The 1-star general was summarily sacked as chairman of the staff verification committee and his highly contentious report thrown into the trash can.

To add insult on his injury, the governor denied him openly. The governor denied having knowledge of Okuntimo’s preliminary report that has generated crisis across the state though we remember clearly that the interim governor had made statements in the past weeks copiously from the skewed report.

Just yesterday I read that Okuntimo misled Governor Bello to make public that there were over 200 ghost workers at the Kogi State College of Education (Technical) Kabba, but the claims were later discovered to be false.

The governor said he cancelled the first batch report of the screening committee for lack of due process. An indictment on Okuntimo’s inability to carry public assignment effectively.

The governor ordered for the immediate retrieval of the purported ‘cleared’ list already directed to various local government and claimed that the list was without his consent. Shifting blame to his appointee. Okay oo.

Okuntimo is not the first casualty and will not be the last. Kogites will recall that when Yahaya Bello was preparing for his inauguration as interim governor, he appointed a former governor of the state, Chief Olafemi Clarence as Chairman Entertainment Committee for the swearing-in ceremony. Olafemi, the Asiwaju of Okunland, failed in that assignment as we did not see TuFace, D’banj, Ali Baba, Don Jazzy or even Femi Awe of Okunland come to perform at the event. During the same inauguration event, a sitting Senator was turned to MC. These two ‘downgraded’ personalities had since lost their voices in Yahaya Bello’s interim administration. Simon Achuba is rarely seen in this government and they claim he is number 2. Okay oo.

Yahaya Bello’s recent victim, a retired 1-star general Okuntimo, has been dealt a ‘5-star embarrassment’ blow.

Okuntimo is the security adviser to Kogi state interim governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello. Under his watch, Kogi state became the headquarters of Kidnapping and other crimes in Nigeria. Obviously, the ghost of late Ken Saro Wiwa is still pursuing this man.
