Hononourable Victor Ade Omofaiye, the member representing Ijumu Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly has charged the entire people of Okunland to embrace unity to achieve the desired progress and development.

Omofaiye made this call in his goodwill message at the Three-Day Okun Summit organized by Okun Development Initiative (ODI).

He stated that God has not made any mistake to have created and uniting the Okun people by language, culture, custom, common heritage, occupation, mineral endowment and intellectual ability and for this, there should not be any need whatsoever for unnecessary dichotomy.

The legislator attached the various challenges faced by the Okun nation in the state to the lack of unity, politics of destruction and revenge, lack of spirit of forgiveness, selfishness, self aggrandizement and lack of good planning for the youth, who he described as future leaders and even now.

Hon. Omofaiye said that as a new breed politician, I am not on of those who feel that our past political office holders have failed us. Many of them performed above board in the area of influencing infrastructures to our land, employment of Okun youths into civil service, political appointments etc. these leaders should be praised and emulated by the present generation of Okun Politicians.

He therefore recommended amongst others that:

Okun Development Association should be more functional and committed to Okun Unity and Development.

A technical Committee, made up of technocrats , politicians, youths, market women, Religious Leaders, Student

Union Leaders and Bussiness Men should be set up to fashion out developmental agenda for Okunland

A united political office holders that will set up a template for the development and progress of Okun nation, who should be meeting periodically to access how much dividends of democracy they have brought to Okun land.
