The Administrator of Okene local government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has declared that murder of the two community leaders in Okene has no political undertones.

In an official statement released shortly after series of meetings between security agencies, community and religious groups, stakeholders and traditional rulers, the Administrator said he has credible reports that shows clearly that the killings were not politically motivated as conceived in some quarters.

“The council leader also wish to debunk the media report credited to vanguard newspaper (online version) on 02/11/2017 that the death of Mall. Abdulmumin Yakubu was as a result of his opposition to government policies and programmes.

“As a matter of fact, the late Mall. Abdulmumin Yakubu was a friend of the government, a renowned peace maker, religious leader and a strong member of Okene local government community association who is always in consultation with government especially on the issues of security and general welfare of the people.

“The government therefore extend her sympathy and condolences to the labour movement in the state on the unfortunate killing of one of their leaders but caution them to refrain from linking his death to the current labour-government face off as this is far from the true situation,” he said.

Engr. Abdulrazaq said after marathon meetings with security agencies and relevant stakeholders, security agencies has mapped out different strategies of policing the area and  ensure the criminals are apprehended and prosecuted.

The Chairman urged residents to go about their normal lawful businesses but cooperate fully with the security agencies in their effort to flush out criminals from the area.
