There was drama yesterday at the Federal High Court, sitting in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, when a lawyer, Ayo Mohammed, announced that he was stepping down from representing Dr Abdullahi Baba Abdul, a Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) candidate for the April National Assembly elections.

Abdul had sued the CPC and others over the imposition of another candidate, saying he was the right candidate for the party’s House of Representatives ticket for Lokoja/Koton–Karfe Federal Constituency.

Abdul was said to have been unruly in the court during the court sitting.

Mohammed said though he was not in court during the last sitting, he was surprised when he was briefed by his junior counsel about what transpired in court.

Abdul told reporters that he was not told that his counsel would withdraw from the case.

Another counsel to the plaintiff, Okoewa A. Eyim, prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable him know the details of the case.
