A group known as Kogi Central Forecast Group (KCFG) has reiterated its call on the entire people of Kogi State to give Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman a chance to become the next Governor of the state.

According to the group, Kogi needs a man of courage and forthrightness, in the likes of Abatemi-Usman, in Lugard House, to be able to repair the extent of damage that has been done by the different incompetent and inept administrations of the state in the last 24 years of its creation.

In a statement signed by the President and Secretary of KCFG, Yakubu Nazir Abdulhakeem and Dahiru Daniya respectively, members of the group described Abatemi-Usman as the most qualified among the four aspirants of All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kogi Central, expressing confidence that he will perform if allowed to take over the mantle of leadership in the state.

There are about 26 aspirants in all from the three senatorial zones in Kogi State seeking to secure the ticket of APC. In the words of the group: “The Former Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Niger/Delta Affair, Senator Nurudeen Usman-Abatemi had been tested and therefore can be trusted from his activities as a Special Adviser on political matters to ex-Speaker of House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole in the 6th National Assembly and as a Senator in the 7th National Assembly. It was only in his time that Kogi Central people enjoyed the true dividend of democracy. All we knew in Ebiraland before the emergence of this young, vibrant, upright and God- fearing politician was political thuggery and violence as spearheaded by those who previously held the same position, turning Ebiraland into a theatre of war where destruction of lives and property meant nothing to those who called themselves our leaders then.

The coming of Abatemi- Usman, the great promoter and lover of peace, as our Senator brought an end to that ugly and terrible era in the central senatorial district of Kogi State, because he led his people by the sheer example of portraying himself as a mature, decent and refined politician who detest in its entirety political thuggery and violence. Rather than engage the youths in any act of violence or thuggery, Deen as he is fondly called, initiated various empowerment and skill acquisition programmes that had thousands of people from his constituency as beneficiaries. No Senator or Representative had done that in the history of Ebiraland.

This is a man who boosted power supply in most communities across Kogi Central with his electricity projects. He provided motorized and hand-pump boreholes to various communities in the districts, aside the fund he pushed in the budget for the construction of Ekuku Dam and Ogori/Magongo Water Treatment Plant where works are still ongoing. Is it his effort on Ajaokuta Steel we want to talk about or the number of bills he exclusively sponsored and the ones he co-sponsored? In the area of education and healthcare, he built schools and hospital in some very remote areas of Kogi Central. Deen has proved that he has all what it takes to lead and it will be good for the people of Kogi State to give him a chance because he will surely make a good governor.”

The group further opined that, “If Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Abatemi-Usman is elected; he will act as an instrument for our much desired change and progress in Kogi State. We believe that the Senator Deen we know will ensures security of lives and property; reform education; provide world- class healthcare delivery system to put an end to the current inequality in the access to healthcare services; develop public infrastructure; redesign Lokoja to give it a befitting look and bring it to the status of a true state capital; empower Kogi youths with the skills and opportunities to realize their dreams and potentials; lead an economic revolution to bring out the entrepreneurial spirit of our people and change the style of governance for transparency and accountability to be embedded in all sectors. As the APC primary election draws closer, we implore all the party delegates across the 21 LGAs to give their votes to Senator Deen, the 44-year-old dynamic, genuine and pragmatic politician that will not disappoint Kogites. ”
