?Its with sad mood that we sincerely commiserate with the National Association Of Nigerian Students (NANS) on the sudden and tragic death of the Senate President and four other comrades which occur by accident on their way to the University of Uyo to mediate for Nigerian students who were brutally gunned down by security operatives in the recent clash between the students and the campus authority.

We condemn in totality the gruesome killings of our members (youths) across the country by the Nigerian police, its with little time before Nigerian Youths occupy everywhere, these students killed deserve the right to their life, where is sanity in Nigerian Police?

Slain NANS Leaders

The Federal Government should rise to this challenge and rescue the innocent Nigerian students.

While NANS and the entire nation grief, Kogi Youth Leaders Forum (KYLF) share in their pains and pray for the deceased.

Speaking on the recent arrest and detention of one of the members of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Sani Makama, let justice be done.

If Makama is innocent of the charges and was really framed up, he will definitely be vindicated. We pray the matter be resolved and justice done accordingly and quickly because it is so cruel for some people in the state to stage such a setup for their fellow brother, we begin to wonder what type of legacy will be left for the youths, are they telling us that he carried guns all about and they still supported and voted him in or that witch-hurting our brothers for self gain is now a legacy?

We sadly condemn this development. It’s also time for us to take our place and put all hands on deck to move Kogi forward, the Governor cannot do it all alone, let us forget those things that appear to divide us and concentrate on moving Kogi forward, only the youths with the new vast of 21st century ideas and experience that will bring the desired change to the Government and not the same circles of old folks as usual.

The Kogi state Government should therefore ensure the youth directorate is largely carried along in the upcoming appointments of Special Assistants to the state governor. We hope the youths make at least half the list of the appointments, the era when old folks are fighting over appointments is over if Kogi state will move forward.

There are lots of qualified youths spread all over the country, their political affiliation doesn’t matter, merit should be considered. The government should search for these brains home and abroad and engage them in building Kogi. It should not be politics as usual. We are watching as the list is being compiled.

Finally, our warm congratulations goes to the newly elected national leadership of National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), we wish you a successful term in office as there are urgent matters to be attended to, the proposed hike in tuition fee in Kogi State University should be immediately visited and the regular Kogi State Students bursary yet to be paid should be cleared.

Congratulations.
