Kogi State Commissioner for Health Idris Omede has said that the state government will prosecute illegal and unauthorized health practitioners in the state.
Dr Omede, who said this while receiving a leadership excellence award from the National Association of Nigeria Students in Lokoja, said quackery is a bad practice and must be resisted by all.
“As a ministry, our approach is to prosecute anyone found rendering medical services to people without the requisite qualification and authorization to do so. Last year, we shut down many unauthorized practitioners in the state. This year, we will increase our inspection because life is too important to be left in the hands of quacks,” he said.
