Kogi Rice to Hit Market Before End of The Year – Official

The much awaited Confluence Rice is expected to hit the market before the end of the year.
Briefing newsmen in Lokoja recently, the Director General on Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo said the introduction of the rice to the Nigerian market is a “fulfillment of the promise made by the present administration to revolutionize agriculture”.
According to him, the rice promises to be “one of the best in the country”, saying Kogi State is set to compete favorably in the rice market.
His words: “The Confluence Rice is a fulfillment of the agricultural policy of the state to provide food for Nigeria. Kogi State is the Rice Capital of the nation and our rice promises to be of the highest quality in the market.
“With the collaboration between the State Government and the private investors at Omi, we are gradually moving towards bridging the rice need of the nation”.
Fanwo said the era of oil is gradually giving way to an “agriculture-driven economy”, assuring farmers in the state that government will continue to support massive production in the agricultural sector.
“The administration of Alh. Yahaya Bello has made an epochal breakthrough in the area of agriculture. We have limitless potentials in the sector and we urge investors to tap into the agricultural advantages offered by the state.
“The State Government recently commissioned newly acquired state-of-the-art construction equipment for the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency to enable the Agency maintain and repair roads in the rural areas as well as open up areas where there are no roads.
“Our aggressive rural road rehabilitation is aimed at helping farmers have access to the market to encourage massive production. The State has also acquired brand new agricultural machineries to make agriculture enticing to our teeming youth population.
“Agriculture offers our youth and our state, a sure path to prosperity through massive production and processing. We are also tapping into the value chain as more areas are opened up for massive production of food for our state and our nation”.
He urged farmers to key into the State Government initiatives to make agriculture the “backbone of the state’s economy”, assuring them of more access to capital for expansion.
