The dream of the All Progressesives Congress (APC) of taking Nigerians from the dungeon of slavery to the promised land may turn out to be a mirage, should the party fail to adequately resolve the present political impasse that is presently threatening the peace of Kogi State. This is the position of APC stakeholders from Kogi State domiciled in Taraba State.

The stakeholders, who made this known yesterday through Hon. Ben Adaji, while briefing newsmen in Jalingo, also accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of “conniving with APC leaders at the National Secretariat to thwart the political ambition of James Abiodun Falake.”

Rather than bring in Bello Yusuf as a replacement for late Prince Audu Abubakar as the party governorship candidate, the party, according to Adaji, ought to adhere to the voices of the people by “allowing James Faleke to take over the mantle of leadership.”

In his words: “We have been watching the political development in Kogi State since the death of Abubakar Audu” adding that “as a stakeholder and strong member of APC, I want to blame INEC for the ongoing political crises in Kogi state.”

Wondering why INEC has decided to make themselves available as a “destructive tool” in the hands of the leadership of the APC at the national level, Adaji observed that late Audu has a joint ticket with Faleke, hence the need for the party to allow Faleke to carry on.

He described the action taken by the party to favour Bello Yusuf as “unfair to the people of Kogi State and Nigerians at large.”

APC at the national level, as suggested by Adaji, “should put their house in order because the same impunity that took place in is what is presently happening in APC.”

Adaji, who was visibly dejected, opined, “if care is not taken, APC will as well go down the drain like PDP, but God forbid.”

For the danger of going down the drain to be averted, APC, as solicited by Adaji, “should allow the voice of the people to prevail,” stressing that, “we are calling APC to do what is right in order to keep the unity of the part afloat.”

Also not comfortable with the increase in poverty and scarcity of petroleum products, Adaji observed that the same poverty that pervaded PDP government is what Nigerians are witnessing today, adding that, “President Buhari should also know that people are still suffering because what we are witnessing now is worse than what we experienced under PDP.”
