Kogi ICPC Set to Partner Army, NSCDC, NOA on War Against Corruption

As part of effort geared towards enhancing its activities and strengthening its operation, the Kogi State Zone of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to partner with the Army, Nigerian Security, Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other agencies.

The new Zonal Commissioner of the ICPC, Barrister Chileze Patrick Ogwuegwu, who had worked several years at the headquarters of the Commission and is currently in charge of three states; Kogi, Kwara and Niger, last week, visited some federal establishment, including the Army, NOA and NSCDC to seek their support for the Commission’s activities.

The anti-graft agency got the firm commitment of the establishments visited to collaborate in fighting the monster of corruption which they all agreed, has created negative image for the country.

At the Cheri Megumeri Military Barracks and NSCDC state headquarters, both in Lokoja, Barrister Chileze solicited the support of both establishments in the Commission’s anti-graft war.

He disclosed that the ICPC would from time to time, be collaborating with the organization to organize workshops that would get the officers and men of the establishment appreciate the roles that they are expected to play in the fight against corruption.

The ICPC zonal chief appreciated the support of security agencies to the Commission, especially in the area of their operation and expressed the hope that they would continue to avail the Commission with their services.

Responding, the Commandant General (CG) Ochogwo Michael U, appreciated the visit and pledged the support of his organization to the ICPC.

He lauded such collaboration, pointing out that the war against corruption can only be won when all hands are on deck.

In the same vein, the Commandant of Cheri Megumeri Army Records headquarters, General A.O. Edopkayi, said the fight against corruption has received a boost since the coming on board of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The only way that the war would succeed, he maintained is for all organs of government to support the administration, stressing that with the present administration, it has become obvious that no one is untouchable.

Like the NSCDC, the Army boss pledged the support of the officers and men of his command to the fight against corruption, assuring that his doors would be kept open to the Commission at all times.

The visit to establishments is part of the advocacy drive to curb corruption, especially in government circles.
