In a bid to enhance better dissemination of information at the grassroots level, Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada has released the sum of N500 million for the rehabilitation of the State Radio booster stations at Otite and Egbe.

Chairperson of the Radio, Television and Theatre Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), Comrade Habibat Umar Ibrahim who lauded the governor over the project, made this known in an interview with The Graphic in Lokoja.

Habibat Ibrahim who described the governor as a media-friendly governor said the rehabilitation has enabled the booster stations which were previously heard on the AM band to be now heard on the frequency modulation band.

This, she said, has given room for wider dissemination and coverage of information.

The chairperson who disclosed that Governor Wada has assured that he would reinstate the weigh-in allowance, appealed that the state government would restore RATTAWU members’ weigh-in allowance, complete the gallery being built in the premises of Kogi State Arts and Council and also reinstate their members who were dropped during the Sally Tibot screening exercise in 2009.

Ibrahim said if the above requests are granted, they would go a long way to boost their morale and promote peaceful working relationships.

She assured that RATTAWU would continue to dialogue with the appropriate authorities to ensure better working conditions and welfare of members.
